Navigating an eTextbook

There are several ways you can progress through an eTextbook:

  • You can jump to a specific page by entering the relevant number at the top of the eReader.

You can search inside the eTextbook you are reading:

  • Selecting the search button will display the search box.
  • You can enter your search term andselect the area you wish to search in, for example Product (the main text) or Annotations. Note: Not all eTextbooks contain all of these sections.
  • Select the search icon to conduct the search.
  • The results will be displayed beneath the search box and your search term will be highlighted in the results.
  • You can select the X to close the search box.

You can annotate eTextbooks in a number of different ways. First, highlight the text you wish to annotate by dragging your mouse or finger over the portion of text. You can choose the option you wish to use. You do not need to have the annotation panel open to use annotations:

  • Note – A box will appear where you can enter plain text notes.
  • Highlight – the text will be highlighted on the page, several colours are available.
  • Weblink – add a link that takes you to a website if you click on it.
  • Hyperlink – link elsewhere in the eTextbook you are currently reading.

By selecting the Annotations button, you can view a list of your annotations. You can filter your annotations using the drop-down menus:

  • Chapter/Topics - will filter by areas of the eTextbook you are reading.
  • Type - will filter by the type of annotation you want to locate.

Your annotations have several buttons that can be used as well:

You can highlight text to copy and paste as plain text into another program. After highlighting your text, you will see the Annotations toolbar, select the Copy button to open the copy panel. In some eTextbook tables, figures and other items may be enriched and marked as Resources. In these cases underneath the Bookmark sidebar icon you will see a Resources icon and this can be used to navigate these enriched items.
